NORMAN ā The No. 3 Oklahoma women's gymnastics team prevailed to take down West Virginia, 195.850-194.775, Sunday night inside Lloyd Noble Center.
The Sooners posted their highest floor score of the season with a 49.375. OU added a 49.400 on bars and a 49.225 on vault to earn three team event titles on the night.
Senior Evy Schoepfer and junior Allie Stern shared the vault title with matching 9.9s. Freshman Audrey Davis won her third consecutive title on bars with a career-high 9.95. Anastasia Webb took home three event titles for the second week in a row earning the top marks on beam (9.875), floor (9.925) and the all-around. Sophomore Ragan Smith shared the floor title with Webb with a matching 9.925.
The Sooners started with a 49.225 on vault to West Virginia's 48.600 on bars. A pair of Sooners tallied 9.9s as Stern earned a season-high 9.9 for her nearly stuck Yurchenko 1.5. Schoepfer anchored with a 9.9 on her tucked 1.5. Webb added a 9.875 on a huge 1.5, while Davis notched a 9.800 in the leadoff on her Yurchenko full. Junior Emma LaPinta vaulted for the first time in her collegiate career, earning a 9.750 on her full.
OU extended its lead in the second rotation with a 49.400, the second highest team bar score this season, to West Virginia's 48.775 on vault. The highlight of the rotation was a 9.950 from Davis, who received a 10.0 from one judge. Davis stuck her dismount for the first time this season to earn her career high.
A trio of Sooners earned 9.875s, starting with leadoff Karrie Thomas. Thomas stuck her double layout dismount, followed by a stuck dismount from freshman Katherine LeVasseur in the No. 2 spot who also earned a 9.875. Senior Jordan Draper notched a 9.825 in the No. 3 spot and Smith added a 9.875 of her own in the No. 4 spot.
The Sooners struggled on beam, counting a pair of falls for a 47.850. Schopefer redeemed herself after last week to earn a 9.825 in the No. 2 spot while Webb anchored with a 9.875.
OU secured the win in the final rotation with a 49.375 on floor to West Virginia's 48.250 on beam. Draper started off the floor rotation strong with a 9.825. Schoepfer continued a strong night of competition with a season-high 9.900 in the No. 2 spot. LaPinta tallied a 9.800 in the No. 3 spot. Webb was phenomenal as always showcasing her unique choreography and graceful tumbling for a season best 9.925 in the No. 5 spot. Smith wrapped up a strong rotation with a matching 9.925.
The Sooners will haveĀ a trio of road trips beginning next week at Denver. OU will compete in a tri-meet against Denver and Temple on Sunday, Feb. 7, at 3 p.m. CT.
