NORMAN – Oklahoma outside hitter Guewe Diouf has been named the Big 12 Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Diouf made a splash in her collegiate debut, leading the team with 31 kills on the week, good for third in the conference. The Marignane, France, native added seven digs and four kills over two matches.
In the first game of her career in the Crimson and Cream, Diouf led the team with 13 kills and chipped in two digs and three blocks.
The following night Diouf notched a career-high 18 kills, tying her for the most amongst both teams. She added another five digs and one block on the night.
Diouf is the first Sooner to earn Rookie of the Week since 2015 when three different Sooners were honored by the conference.
Diouf and the Sooners are on a bye week and will return to action Oct. 8-9 at Baylor.
