Freshman Han Runner Up at Lakes Invite

FRISCO, Texas – The Oklahoma men's tennis team wrapped up the first weekend of fall competition with 18 combined wins at the Lakes Tennis Invite while freshman Nathan Han was the tournament's runner up.

"It was great to see our guys compete again after last season was cut short due to COVID," said head coach Nick Crowell. "Our guys competed extremely hard and the work we've been putting in early this Fall is paying huge dividends. This team is very special and can't wait to compete again!"

Newcomer Han went 6-1 in the event with a 3-1 mark in singles and a perfect 3-0 in doubles action alongside grad transfer Jonathan Sheehy. Han's signature win came as a 6-2, 6-3 rout of Texas' Cleeve Harper on the final day of competition. The Tulsa native also tallied singles victories over Texas Tech's Dimitrios Azoidis and Connor Johnson.

"Nathan came out of the blocks hot this weekend winning all three doubles matches and winning three out of four in singles against some of our conference's best players," said Crowell. "His excitement and enthusiasm is contagious and work ethic is extremely high."

Junior Mason Beiler also went 3-1 in singles play. Beiler handled Parker Wynn, who played at the No. 1 spot for Texas Tech last spring, 6-4, 6-4, and held on to defeat Texas' No. 3 player Eliot Spirzzirri 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 [7].

The Sooners will return to the court Nov. 6 for the Big 12 Individual Championships in Fort Worth, Texas.
