CAPTAINS' ORDERS
⢠After hitting her first five career home runs as a sophomore in 2019, OU junior co-captain Lynnsie Elam has launched eight roundtrippers as a junior in 2020. The Chickasha, Okla., native matched her sophomore total just nine games into the season this year and leads OU in HRs (8) and is third in RBIs with 17.Ā
⢠OU's other captain, senior utility player Nicole Mendes, made her first appearance of 2020 following knee surgery in the fall at last weekend's Courtyard Marriott Tournament. The two-time Women's College World Series All-Tournament honoree and only national champion on the OU roster (2017) pinch hit three times, registering one hit on an RBI single to plate the go-ahead run in OU's 15-8 victory over North Texas on Saturday, Feb. 29.Ā
NEWCOMERS STEPPING UP
⢠Oklahoma's newcomers have quickly become one of the top storylines for the 2020 Sooners. OU has started eight fresh faces across the lineup in the early part of the season.Ā
