Sooners Sweep the Weekend on the Road

NORMAN – The Oklahoma women's tennis defeated Illinois 4-0, securing their second road win of the weekend in Champaign on Sunday.

With the win, OU improves to 5-3 on the season while Illinois moves to 4-8.

The Sooners started the match off with the doubles point. Ivana Corley and Carmen Corley were victorious over Emily Duong and Josie Frazier with a 6-1 win on the premier court. The doubles point was clinched by Camila Romero and Martina Capurro, who defeated Mia Rabinowitz and Ashley Yeah 6-3 on the third court.

When play was abandoned, Sasha Belaya and Emilee Casati were up 5-4 on Jasmine Asghar and Oleksandra Korashvili at the No. 2 line.

In singles, Ivana Corley was the first to finish for the Sooners. She came out with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Emilee Casati on the sixth court. On the premier court, Martina Capurro beat Mia Rabinowitz 6-1, 6-3.

For the fourth and final point of the match, Carmen Corley defeated Emilee Duong 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 3 line.

When the match concluded, three courts were abandoned. Oleksandra Korashvili was in a 6-0, 4-6, 1-1 battle against Sasha Belaya on the second court. Marcelina Podlinksa won her first set 6-4 against Josie Frazier, but was down 1-5. Ashley Yeah and Camila Romero were 7-5, 3-3 on court five.

The Sooners will host three matches next weekend. They will face TCU on Friday, March 6 at 5 p.m. CT, Texas Tech on Sunday, March 8 at 2 p.m. and Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 8 p.m.
