Four Sooners Invited to 2020 NFL Combine

February 07, 2020 | Football

NORMAN — Former Oklahoma football players Neville Gallimore, Jalen Hurts, CeeDee Lamb and Kenneth Murray have been invited to the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine that will take place Feb. 24-March 1 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, the NFL announced Friday. On-field workouts are scheduled for Feb. 27-March 1.

Gallimore was a 2019 first-team All-Big 12 pick by the Associated Press as a redshirt senior. The defensive lineman started all 14 games and finished the year with 30 tackles and career highs of 7.5 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks. Co-winner of the team's Don Key Award for his performance on and off the field, the Ottawa, Ontario, product also forced two fumbles last season and five in his career.

Hurts enjoyed an incredibly productive senior year in 2019, his lone season as a Sooner. The graduate transfer quarterback who played his first three seasons at Alabama, was Heisman Trophy runner-up this past year after registering career highs of 3,851 passing yards, 32 passing touchdowns, 1,298 rushing yards, 20 rushing TDs, 5,149 yards of total offense and TDs accounted for (53). The second-team Sporting News All-American was a first-team All-Big 12 selection by coaches and media, and a finalist for the Maxwell Award, Davey O'Brien Award, Manning Award, Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award and Senior CLASS Award. Hurts, from Houston, led the nation in yards per pass attempt (11.3; FBS record is 11.6) and ranked second in passing efficiency rating (191.2; fourth best in school history), yards per completion (16.3), points responsible for per game (22.9) and touchdowns accounted for (53) for the Sooners.

One of the most explosive receivers in the country, Lamb was a consensus All-American as a junior in 2019 and a unanimous first-team All-Big 12 pick. The Richmond, Texas, product tied for fifth nationally (led the Big 12) with 14 receiving touchdowns and ranked third in the country (first in the Big 12) with his 21.4 yards per catch (most ever by a Sooner with at least 50 receptions in a season). He made at least one TD grab in nine of his 13 games and ranked second nationally with six games of 135-plus receiving yards. The Most Outstanding Player of the Big 12 Championship (he gained 173 yards on eight receptions), he finished the year with 62 catches for a career-high 1,327 yards. Lamb ranks first at OU with 24 career receptions of at least 40 yards and with six career games of at least 160 receiving yards.

Murray, a linebacker who like Lamb declared for the NFL Draft following his junior campaign, earned 2019 second-team AFCA All-America acclaim, third-team AP All-America honors and first-team All-Big 12 accolades. The finalist for the Bednarik Award, Butkus Award and Lott IMPACT Trophy started all 14 contests this past season and led OU with 102 tackles and 17 tackles for loss (tied for 19th nationally). He also tallied 4.0 sacks, four pass breakups and five quarterback hurries to spearhead a defense that ranked 38th in yards allowed per game (jumped from 114th in 2018). Despite playing just three seasons, Murray ranks 11th in school history (ninth among linebackers) with 335 career tackles. He also logged 37.0 tackles for loss and ranks eighth at OU in career sacks by a linebacker with 9.5.

Oklahoma is the only program that has produced at least four NFL Draft picks each of the last 12 seasons. Last year, eight Sooners were drafted, the program's most since 2005. Each of the last two No. 1 overall picks were Sooners: quarterbacks Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
