Last Time Out

The Sooners (4-3) pulled off an upset of No. 24 Kentucky last Sunday on the road, topping the Wildcats 5-2.

OU opened the match with the doubles point. Jake Van Emburgh and Mark Mandlik got off to a hot start, rolling past UK's Cesar Bourgois and Liam Draxl 6-1 at the top spot.

Jochen Bertsch and Justin Schlageter fell to UK's Kevin Heumpfner and Alexandre LeBlanc 6-4 on court three, leaving the point to be decided on court two. There, Max Stewart and Alex Martinez clinched the opening point with a 7-5 victory over the Wildcats' Gabriel Diallo and Millen Hurrion.

In singles, Schlageter improved to 4-0 on the season with a 7-5, 6-2 upset of No. 55 LeBlanc on court four. Stewart gave OU a 3-1 advantage with a victory on court six. After a tight 7-5 first set with UK's Huempfner, Stewart dominated set two 6-1.

Senior and No. 116 Bertsch clinched the win for OU in a three-setter on court five. Bertsch dropped his first set to Kento Yamada 6-4 before turning the tables to take set two 6-4 and force a third, winning that frame 6-3.

Mandlik added an extra win for the Sooners with a three-set victory of his own, taking out Diallo 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 (5) on court two.

Schlageter, who joined the Sooners in January, is the third- ranked freshman in the Big 12 and the 13th highest player in the league after just a month of collegiate competition.

As a team, OU re-entered the ITA rankings at No. 25 and is No. 24 in the Tennis Channel/USTA's College Tennis Top 25.

Scouting Arkansas

The Razorbacks come into Friday's matchup fresh off a 4-3 upset of then-No. 5 Baylor in their last contest. Arkansas is 3-2 on the year with its other wins over Drake (4-1) and Nebraska-Omaha (6-1).

Arkansas used a singles comeback to oust Baylor after dropping the doubles point. Melvin Manuel, Nico Rousset, Alex Reco and Josh Howard-Tripp all picked up victories with Howard-Tripp clinching it at the top line in a tiebreaker.

Reco represents Arkansas in the latest ITA rankings, where he checks in at No. 73.
