Brady Manek claimed his second scholastic honor of the past week by being named to the 2020 Academic All-Big 12 Men's Basketball First Team.
A management major, Manek received first team honors for the second straight season. First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence.Ā
Last Thursday, Manek was selected as one of 41 NCAA Division I men's basketball student-athletes named to a CoSIDA Academic All-District Team. With the honor, Manek advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot.Ā
In his third year with the Sooners, Manek boasts a cumulative GPA of 3.53. While at OU he's been named to the President's Honor Roll (4.0 semester GPA) and twice named to the Dean's Honor Roll (3.50-3.99 GPA). He has been honored as a Sooner Scholar (3.00 GPA cumulative) five times and is a four-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll. He was also selected to the 2019 Academic All-Big 12 First Team.
One of the top scorers and shooters in the Big 12, Manek is averaging 14.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.4 3-pointers and 1.1 blocks this season. He's making his 3-pointers and a rate of 38.8%.
A starter in 62 consecutive games for the Sooners, Manek ranks 33rd on Oklahoma's career scoring with 1,157 points. His 182 career 3-pointers are the seventh most in program history.
