Brady Manek was one of 41 NCAA Division I men's basketball student-athletes named to a CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, the organization announced Thursday.Ā
Manek is one of five athletes selected to the District 7 team, consisting of schools located in Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas. He's joined on the list by Freddie Gillespie (Baylor), Davide Moretti (Texas Tech), Emmanuel Nzekwesi (Oral Roberts) and Matt Pile (Nebraska-Omaha).
With the honor, Manek advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in mid-March.
In his third year with the Sooners, Manek is pursuing a management degree and boasts a cumulative GPA of 3.53. While at OU he's been named to the President's Honor Roll (4.0 semester GPA) and twice named to the Dean's Honor Roll (3.50-3.99 GPA). He has been honored as a Sooner Scholar (3.00 GPA cumulative) five times and is a four-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll. He was also selected to the 2019 Academic All-Big 12 First Team.
One of the top scorers and shooters in the Big 12, Manek is averaging 15.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.5 3-pointers and 1.2 blocks this season. He's making his 3-pointers and a rate of 41.0% - the third best in the Big 12.Ā
Manek is the only Division I player averaging at least 2.5 3-pointers and 1.0 blocks.
A starter in 60 consecutive games for the Sooners, Manek ranks 34th on Oklahoma's career scoring with 1,140 points. His 182 career 3-pointers are the seventh most in program history.
