Sooners Take on No. 11 Pepperdine at Home

NORMAN –  After a two-week hiatus, the Oklahoma women's tennis team is home to host No. 11 Pepperdine Saturday at 12 p.m. CT.

Last Time Out

The Sooners (3-1) swept Oral Roberts and UMKC, both by a score of 7-0 in a doubleheader on Feb. 1. 

Against ORU, OU did not drop a game in doubles as Camila Romero and Martina Capurro shut out Reagan Miley and Andrea Vasiljevic 6-0 on court three and Oleksandra Korashvili and Jasmine Asghar clinched the doubles point with a 6-0 defeat over Aliksandra Lebedeva on court two.

Korashvili was the first to win for the Sooners in singles, defeating Aliksandra Lebedeva 6-0, 6-1 on the third court. Second to finish for Oklahoma was Camila Romero with a 6-0, 6-1 defeat over Rai Sengupta on court five. At the No. 4 line, Marcelina Podlinksa shutout Reagan Miley 6-0, 6-0 to clinch the win. Play continued with a 6-1, 6-3 defeat where Carmen Corley came out on top of Ivana Babic on court two.
 
Next to finish for the Sooners was Martina Capurro, who topped Oleksandra Nahurska 6-2, 6-2 on the top court. Kianah Motosono completed the sweep with a win over Andrea Vasiljevic 6-2, 6-1.

Against UMKC, Oklahoma won the doubles point after UMKC forfeited at the No. 3 and Carmen Corley and Ivana Corley clinched the point with a 6-1 win on court one. 

UMKC forfeited at the No. 6 line, setting the Sooners ahead 2-0 heading into singles. Carmen Corley was the first to finish for the Sooners with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Michela Xibilia on the premier court. Next to finish was Ivana Corley who beat Grace Ball 6-3, 6-2 on court four. Shortly after, Camila Romero completed her sets 6-3, 6-1 against Riddhi Sharma at the No. 2 line. 

Jasmine Asghar defeated Thanushree Vale 7-6 and 6-3. Play continued with Skyler Miller's 6-4, 7-5 defeat of Rhiannon McBlane on court five to complete the sweep.

Scouting Pepperdine

With a 3-2 overall record, the Waves enter the matchup after playing in the ITA National Team Indoor Championship in Chicago, Ill. In their first match, Pepperdine fell to Duke 1-4, but came back to beat Virginia 4-2. In the consolation round, the Waves fell 0-4 to Princeton.
 

International Day

With six players on the team from different countries around the world, the Sooners will recognize and celebrate the different cultures that make up the team at Saturday's match. Jasmine Asghar is from England; Oleksandra Korashvili is from the Ukraine; Martina Capurro is from Argentina; Camila Romero is from Ecuador; Marcelina Podlinska is from Poland; and although she was raised in Miami, Kianah Motosono's family hails from Peru.

First serve against Pepperdine is set for 12 p.m. CT on Saturday.  Admission is always free. Free pizza, stickers, posters and wrist bands will be available while supplies last.
