England Named to All-Big 12 Freshman Team

NORMAN — University of Oklahoma soccer freshman midfielder Cailey England was named to the 2020 All-Big 12 Freshman Team, the conference announced Wednesday. 

"We're immensely proud of Cailey and the season she had," said OU head coach Mark Carr. "For a freshman to come in and get that kind of recognition from her competitors is awesome. We know the potential Cailey has and she's exceeded expectations already. 

"This is going to give her real confidence moving forward. To see that in year one is exciting. We're excited to see what next steps she takes." 

England was a steady force in the Sooners' starting lineup this season, starting eight of OU's nine games. Of the eight games the Dripping Springs, Texas, product started, England went the full time in each match including two overtime bouts vs. Texas Tech and Baylor, for a combined 702 minutes on the season.

Additionally, the All-Big 12 honoree recorded nine shots on the season, putting three on goal. She ranked fourth on the team in shots and third on the squad in looks on goal in her first year campaign. 

OU concluded its fall season last Sunday at Kansas. The Sooners have not released a spring 2021 schedule at this time.
