NORMAN – After the first two rounds of the Gopher Invitational, the No. 7 Oklahoma men's golf team is tied for sixth place with an overall 571 (+3). The Sooners carded a 285 (+1) to open Sunday's action before posting a 286 (+2) in the afternoon to end the day tied with Purdue. The two-day, 54-hole tournament is taking place at the par-71, 7,368-yard Windsong Farm Golf Club in Independence, Minn.

Baylor leads the 13-team field with a 36-hole score of 560 (-8), followed by Texas A&M at 563 (-5) in second place. West Virginia and Arkansas are tied for third place at 566 (-2) while Marquette rounds out the top five at 568 (E) after round one.

"We had our chances today but just couldn't capitalize on the greens," said OU head coach Ryan Hybl. "With weather moving in tomorrow, a good round will go a long ways and we need that."

Freshman Turner Hosch leads the Sooners in a tie for 15th after posting an overall 142 (E) on the opening day of play. Hosch set the pace for the team firing a 70 (-1) in the morning round and a 72 (+1), in the afternoon round. The freshman earned an eagle on hole No. 12 and posted five birdies on the day.

Seniors Garett Reband and Quade Cummins are tied for 20th with an overall score of 143 (+1). Reband started the day with 73 (+2), but rebounded with a 1-under 70 in the second round. Cummins opened the day with an eagle on the par-5 18th to post a 70 (-1) and shot a second-round 73 (+2).

Sophomore Patrick Welch and senior Thomas Johnson logged a 36-hole score of 145 (+3) to share 31st place. Welch shot a 72 (+1) and followed with a 73 (+2). Johnson began the day by posting a 74 (+3) but responded in the afternoon round with an even-par 71.

The final round of the Gopher Invitational is scheduled for Monday. OU will begin at 7 a.m. CT from the No. 1 tee and will be paired with Utah and Kent State.
