Sooners Reveal 2019 Schedule

NORMAN — University of Oklahoma Vice President and Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione and Head Volleyball Coach Lindsey Gray-Walton announced the 2019 OU volleyball schedule Thursday.

The Sooners' slate includes 27 regular season contests with 12 matches at McCasland Fieldhouse.

"Reflecting on the 2018 season, we learned that every match counts in creating your opportunity for postseason play," Gray-Walton said. "The 2019 schedule we've put together is both challenging and exciting for our program. Our preseason schedule will help us to develop our identity and fine-tune our system while preparing for the physicality of Big 12 play. Our team is motivated to compete and create opportunities in 2019."

OU opens the season in Fort Collins, Colo., at the Colorado State Invitational Aug. 30-31. The Sooners will then head to Bloomington, Ind., for the Indiana Invitational Sept. 6-7 before hosting the OU Nike Invitational Sept. 13-14.

Oklahoma close out non-conference action with a road trip to Texas A&M on Sept. 17 before returning to Norman to host SMU (Sept. 21).

The Sooners kick off Big 12 play Sept. 25 with TCU in Norman then hit the road for meetings with West Virginia (Sept. 28) and Baylor (Oct. 2).

Other Big 12 home matches include Kansas (Oct. 5), Kansas State (Oct. 16), Iowa State (oct. 19), Baylor (Oct. 30), Texas (Nov. 8), Texas Tech (Nov. 13) and West Virginia (Nov. 22).

The Sooners are on the road for conference matches at Texas (Oct. 12), Texas Tech (Oct. 26), Kansas (Nov. 2), Iowa State (Nov. 15), Kansas State (Nov. 20), and TCU (Nov. 27).

Four of OU's 2019 regular season opponents earned berths in the 2018 NCAA tournament, including Colorado State Invitational host Colorado State, Indiana Invitational opponent Yale and conference foes Texas and Baylor.

Additionally, OU Nike Invite opponent Georgia Tech and Big 12 rival Iowa State made the 2018 National Invitational Volleyball Championship field with the Cyclones bringing home the title.

Season tickets for the 2019 OU volleyball season will go on sale in July, and more information will be released at a later date.
