LUBBOCK, Texas — Oklahoma's second half comeback came up short in its Big 12 finale on Tuesday night as the Sooners fell to Texas Tech, 88-82, inside United Supermarkets Arena.
OU (8-21, 4-14 Big 12) trailed by as many as 21 late in the third quarter, but used a fourth-quarter surge to get back into the game. Ana Llanusa scored 15 of her game high 27 points in the final frame. The sophomore scored 13 straight points to bring the Sooners within two points of Texas Tech (13-16, 4-14 Big 12) with 4:38 to go.
Llanusa has scored 20 points seven times in the last eight games for the Sooners. The sophomore hit her third 3-pointer of the quarter with 1:14 to go, but Texas Tech's Chrislyn Carr answered with a lay-in on the next possession to put the Lady Raiders back in front for good.
Llanusa finished 11-for-20 from the field with four 3-pointers, while adding four rebounds and four steals.
The Lady Raiders regained the lead late in the final frame. OU trailed 81-80 but Texas Tech took advantage of an intentional foul called on the Sooners with 0:27 left to ice the game at the free throw line.
OU's Taylor Robertson added 21 points, knocking down seven 3-pointers. The freshman was 7-of-12 from beyond the arc and recorded six rebounds in 40 minutes.
Robertson broke the OU freshman single-season record for 3-pointers in the game with a pair of treys in the first quarter., besting the previous mark set by Aaryn Ellenberg (94, 2010-11). She also joins Ellenberg as one of two players to make at least 100 3-pointers in a single season at Oklahoma.
Sophomore Mandy Simpson finished with 11 points and a career-high 16 rebounds to earn her first career double-double.
Freshman Madi Williams finished in double figures with 10 points and six rebounds. Freshman Jessi Murcer logged a career-high 11 assists and chipped in nine points. Murcer's 11 assists were the most by a Sooner in a single game this year.
Texas Tech was led by Carr with 26 points and four assists, while Sydney Goodson scored 20 points and hit three 3-pointers. Zuri Sanders finished with a double-double, recording 15 points and 14 rebounds.
OU outshot the Lady Raider, .448-.446, and the Sooners knocked down 12 3-pointers to finish with a .444 clip from deep. On the glass, OU outrebounded Texas Tech, 44-37, but the Sooners' finished with a season-high 29 turnovers.
The Sooners will be the No. 8 seed and play No. 9 seed Texas Tech in the first round of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship on Friday at 6 p.m. CT in Oklahoma City. The game will be televised on Fox College Sports Central. Tickets are available here.
