KEY NOTES OF WEEK
- Oklahoma is 11-1 to start a season for the first time since the 2017 team began its season 13-1.
- OU pitchers posted a 1.20 ERA in five games last week. All four starters lasted 6.0 innings in the weekend series, going 5-0 and allowing just three combined runs, 21 hits and five walks in 28.0 innings.
- Freshman Ben Abram went 2-0, striking out 11 batters in 10.0 innings, and allowing just two runs on eight hits and no walks last week.
- Sophomores Cade Cavalli and Levi Prater each allowed no runs in 6.0 innings in their starts.
- Junior shortstop Brandon Zaragoza was on fire at the plate last week, batting .550 (11 for 20) and accounting for 15 of the team's 44 runs scored in the five games. He scored seven runs and tallied eight RBIs, including a two-run single in the finale that gave OU the lead for good.
- Sophomore first baseman Tyler Hardman continued his hot hitting, batting .417 (10 for 24) last week with two home runs, a double and nine RBIs. His two home runs came in consecutive at bats to start game two on Friday.
- Junior catcher Brady Lindsly batted .400 in two starts and hit his first home run and first triple of the season last week. Sophomore catcher Justin Mitchell went 5 for 10 at the plate in three games last week. Senior third baseman Brylie Ware hit his first home run on Friday and doubled twice last week, driving in five runs and scoring five runs. Freshman center fielder Milan Walla batted .364 and scored five runs last week. Senior Ryan Madden pitched 4.1 scoreless relief innings across two outings for the Sooners.
- Entering the fourth week of the season, OU is batting .284 as a team and averaging 6.6 runs per game, with 25 doubles, seven triples and six home runs. The pitching staff has a 1.58 team ERA, allowing opponents to score just 23 total runs (1.9 per game) and hit for a .211 average. All four starters have an ERA 1.80 or lower.
