Sooners Fall to Florida

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Oklahoma women's tennis team fell to Florida 4-2 Friday night on the road.

OU (5-3) took the doubles point and tallied singles win from Camila Romero in the contest, but fell short to the Gators.

In doubles, Martina Capurro and Camila Romero struck first with a 6-3 win over Ida Jarlskog and Tsveta Dimitrova on court two.

Jasmine Asghar and Ivana Corley locked up the opening point when they defeated Victoria Emma and McCartney Kessler 6-4 at the top spot. The Sooners' duo jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Emma and Kessler got on the board.

When play was abandoned, Oleksandra Korashvili and Kianah Motosono trailed Anastasia Kharitonova and Marlee Zein 5-4 on court three.

Romero battled to a singles win over No. 52 Victoria Emma on court five. Romero held strong to win the first in a tiebreaker 7-6 (2) before claiming a tight second set 7-5 to win her match.

Capurro fell to No. 12 Jarlskog 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 at the top spot. No. 60 Korashvili was defeated by No. 33 Kessler 6-4, 6-3, and Motosono dropped to Dimitrova 6-3, 6-4 on court five. Corley was defeated by Kharitonova 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 6 line.
