Dao Earns Pair of Postseason Honors

December 05, 2019 | Soccer

NORMAN Oklahoma redshirt senior Kaylee Dao earned a pair of postseason honors, being named a CoSIDA Academic All-American and a Senior CLASS Award first-team honoree.

Dao is just the second player in OU history to earn Academic All-America honors, joining Paige Welch who was a second-team selection in 2018. Dao was named to the first-team after graduating with a 3.83 GPA and a double-major in Arts & Sciences Planned Planned Program – Social Sciences and Organizational Studies and Environmental Sustainability – Culture and Society in Aug. 2019. She is currently working toward a master's degree in human relations and boasts a 4.0 GPA.

After being named the first Senior CLASS Award Finalist in program history, Dao was named a first-team Senior CLASS Award All-American. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award honors the attributes of senior student-athletes in four areas: community, classroom, character and competition. The award program is designed exclusively for college seniors who are utilizing their complete athletic eligibility, remaining committed to their university and pursuing the many rewards a senior season can bring.

Dao's season was highlighted by her first career hat-trick in a 3-2 victory over Kansas State on Oct. 3. The Tulsa, Okla., native started all 20 games for the Sooners, tallying a career-high 13 goals with five game-winners. Dao had the golden goal in all four of Oklahoma's overtime victories. She will finish her career third all-time in OU history with 29 career goals and second all-time with 11 game winners.

Dao added the two All-America honors to her already extensive list of career accolades. She is a four-time All-Big 12 selection, a three-time Academic All-Big 12 selection and a two-time All-Region honoree.
