NORMAN – Oklahoma redshirt senior Kaylee Dao and freshman Maya McCutcheon captured All-Big 12 honors, the conference announced Tuesday. Dao was a unanimous first-team selection as a midfielder, while McCutcheon was named to the all-freshman team.
Dao's third-straight season on the first team was highlighted by her first career hat-trick in a 3-2 victory over Kansas State on Oct. 3. The Tulsa, Okla., native started all 20 games for the Sooners, tallying a career-high 13 goals with five game-winners. Dao had the golden goal in all four of Oklahoma's overtime victories. She will finish her career third all-time in OU history with 29 career goals and second all-time with 11 game winners.
This is the fourth career honor for Dao who earned a spot on the All-Big 12 Freshman Team after her first season at OU. Dao is just the third player in program history to earn four or more conference honors in a career, joining Logan Womack and Whitney Palmer.
McCutcheon was recognized after a breakout freshman season for the Crimson and Cream. The Murphy, Texas, native notched three goals in 2019 as she appeared in all 20 games while starting 15.
McCutcheon's first career goal came on Sept. 19 against SMU. The freshman also tallied goals against Baylor and Texas. McCutcheon is just the 12th Sooner to earn all-freshman honors.
