NORMAN – Oklahoma middle blocker Brianna Kadiku has been named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Kadiku led the Big 12 in total blocks with 19 and blocks per set with 2.4. The Cedar Hill, Texas, native tied league bests this season for blocks in a five-set match (10) and a three-set match (9).
Against Baylor, Kadiku matched her career high with 10 blocks and chipped in six kills and one assist. Kadiku followed up that performance with nine blocks, three kills and three assists against Kansas.
Behind Kadiku, the Sooners held No. 3 Baylor to a .162 hitting percentage, including a -.029 mark in the second set. The senior also helped OU hold Kansas to a .076 hitting performance in a 3-0 victory.
This is OU's second weekly honor this season and the second of Kadiku's career, the first coming in 2018. Junior Keyton Kinley was also named the Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 30.
Kadiku and the Sooners continue Big 12 play with No. 1 Texas on Friday at 6 p.m. CT inside McCasland Field House.
