WICHITA, Kan. – Playing just 60 miles from her hometown of McPherson, Kansas,
Taylor Robertson scored a career-high 30 points and nine 3-pointers Saturday as the Sooners narrowly fell to Wichita State 88-83.
With the loss, OU moves to 4-3 on the season while Wichita State improves to 4-2 with its fourth consecutive victory.
Robertson shot 58.8% (10-for-17) from the field and 56.3% (9-of-16) from beyond the arc. Her 16 attempts from deep also set a career high for the sophomore. Six of her nine 3s came in the second half as OU rallied to come within a point of Wichita State after trailing by as many as 16 in the first.
With 15 seconds remaining in the game, Robertson hit her ninth and final three of the night before the Shockers turned the ball over and
Ana Llanusa drained another three to bring the Sooners within one at 84-83 Wichita State.
The effort fell just short as the Shockers capitalized on freethrows and scored again in the final seconds to win 88-83.
Three more Sooners joined Robertson in double figures as Llanusa had 19 and
Madi Williams and
Gabby Gregory chipped in 13 apiece. Williams was just shy of a double-double, finishing with a team-high eight rebounds.
Gregory notched her second straight game in double figures and was nearly perfect on the day as she went 5-for-7 from the floor and 2-for-3 from deep.
