Dao Named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week

October 08, 2019 | Soccer

NORMAN – Senior Kaylee Dao was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week after netting her first career hat trick, the conference announced Tuesday. This is her third career honor and second this season.

The Tulsa, Okla. native led the conference with six points, all coming via her first-career hat trick in OU's 3-2 win over Kansas State. The three-goal game was the first for a Sooner since 2015 and just the fourth hat trick in program history. With the Sooners in their seventh overtime game of the season, Dao completed the feat with her third game-winning golden goal of the year.

Dao has notched three multi-goal games in 2019 to bring her season goal total to 11. That number ranks first in the Big 12 and second nationally.

With her three-goal game, Dao brought her career total to 27 goals which ranks third all-time in OU program history. Her nine career game winning goals are good enough for fourth all-time.

The Sooners have been honored by the Big 12 three times this season, with Dao earning a pair of honors and junior goalkeeper Nikki Panas earning Defensive Player of the Week accolades in week one.

Baylor's Elizabeth Kooiman and Texas Tech's Madison White were honored as the Rookie of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively.

The Sooners are back in action Thursday night against Kansas. The teams will kickoff at 7 p.m. from John Crain Field.
