OU Finishes in Eighth at Jim West

NORMAN - Oklahoma women's golf concluded its time at the Jim West Challenge on Monday, finishing the event in eighth place. The Sooners shot a 297 (+9) in the final round to finish with a 54-hole total of 858 (-6) at the 6,033-yard, par-72 Kissing Tree Golf Club in San Marcos, Texas.

"The truth is we have been struggling lately as a team but we know we need to trust in the process and believe our time is coming," said OU head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell. "We have a lot of upside on this team and are just waiting for it all to come together. We are just working on growing as a team and I believe that is the most important part."

Ole Miss won the event with a 54-hole score of 836 (-28).

Junior Kaitlin Milligan tied for fifth after posting a 73 (+1) in her final round and a combined three-round score of 209 (-7). The junior's week was highlighted by a 8-under 64 in her opening round.

Junior Sydney Youngblood also finished in the top 10 after carding a 74 (+2) in her final round to tie for ninth with a three-round score of 211 (-5). Youngblood posted three straight birdies to finish out her final round.

Sophomore Libby Winans finished with 4-over par (76) on Monday to tie for 43rd with a 54-hole score of 219 (+3). Fellow sophomore Mikhaela Fortuna shot a 78 (+6) to round at the weekend tied for 53rd at 223 (+7).

Senior Ellen Secor shot a 74 (+2), a three shot improvement from the second round, to tie for 61st with a 225 (+9).

The Sooners close out the fall portion of their schedule by traveling to the Bahamas for the White Sands Invitational. The two-day tournament will begin on Monday, Oct. 28th.
