Volleyball Announces Addition of Paige Johnson

NORMAN — Oklahoma volleyball coach Lindsey Gray-Walton announced Wednesday the addition of transfer Paige Johnson, who will join the Sooners in the spring and have two years of eligibility remaining.

A native of Pleasant Hill, Mo., Johnson comes to Oklahoma after spending the first two seasons of her collegiate career at Arkansas. Johnson is a 5-6 defensive specialist and averaged 1.22 digs per set with the Razorbacks.

“I grew up an OU fan my whole life,” Johnson said. “I have a dog named Boomer and a cat named Sooner. It's been in my blood!”

Last fall, Johnson averaged 1.62 digs per set over 92 sets played. From the service line, Johnson recorded a .961 service percentage with 13 aces, matching a career-best with three aces against Missouri on Sept. 23.

As a freshman, Johnson played in 104 sets with six starts. She had at least five digs in seven matches, including a career-high 11 digs in consecutive matches against Auburn and Ole Miss.

Johnson was a four-year starter for Pleasant Hill High School, earning all-state honors twice and all-region accolades three times. She played club with Performance Volleyball out of Overland Park, Kan.
