NORMAN – Nine Oklahoma members of the 2018 NCAA champion Oklahoma men's gymnastics team were named to the College Gymnastics Association's Academic Scholar-Athlete team, the organization announced.

“I'm happy that my student-athletes are achieving success both on the field of play and in the classroom,” Williams said. “We have excellent gymnasts who are also preparing for professional careers away from the sport.”

Rising seniors Eric Holley, Brian Schibler and Genki Suzuki, juniors Matt Wenske and Collyn Kellogg, sophomore Mason Menser, and 2018 graduate Reese Rickett landed on the first team with GPAs of 3.50 or higher. Kellogg and Schibler each finished with a perfect 4.0 mark.

Senior Jake Maloley and 2018 graduate Hunter Justus earned second-team honors after posting GPAs of 3.299-3.40.

The Sooners have totaled nine or more scholar-athletes for just the fifth time in program history, matching the number in 2006, 2014 and 2015, and registering a program-best 12 in 2017.

Eleven former and current OU gymnasts will be in action at U.S. Championships from August 16-19 in Boston, Mass. For more updates this offseason, follow @OU_MGymnastics on Twitter.
