The Oklahoma baseball team returns home for its final three-game series of the regular season as Kansas State visits L. Dale Mitchell Park. The Sooners and Wildcats open the series on Friday at 6:30 p.m. CT. OU will celebrate seniors Kyle Mendenhall and Devon Perez on Sunday for Senior Day. Voice of the Sooners Toby Rowland will call the series across the Sooner Sports Network and locally on Sportstalk 99.3 FM/1400 AM. The games can also be streamed online at Sportstalk1400.com or on the TuneIn mobile app. SoonerSports.tv will stream Friday night's game, while Saturday and Sunday's contest will air on Fox Sports Oklahoma + with Chad McKee (pxp) and George Frazier (analyst) on the call.
No. 18 Oklahoma is 28-18 overall and fourth place in the Big 12 with a 10-8 record. The Sooners are hitting .283 as a team, including a .288 mark in conference games to rank third in the league. Junior right fielder Steele Walker leads the way with a .364 average, hitting a league-best .418 in 17 conference games, and slugging .614 with 11 home runs and 44 RBI. Junior third baseman Brylie Ware is second on the team with a .333 batting average and is tied for second with 32 RBI. The OU pitching staff owns a 3.99 earned run average on the season, which ranks third in the conference. In league play, the Sooners boast a 4.65 ERA and are second in the conference with a .253 batting average against. Junior right-handed pitcher Jake Irvin, the Sooners' Friday night starter, is 5-1 with a 3.33 ERA and 78 strikeouts in 67.2 innings worked. Irvin became the 21st OU pitcher in school history to record at least 200 career strikeouts, picking up 10 punch outs in his last start at Oklahoma State. Sophomore right-hander Nathan Wiles is 4-3 with a 4.04 ERA, including a 3.25 mark in league games; ranking sixth in the Big 12. He has struck out 42 and walked only eight in 55.2 innings.

The Sooners will honor senior second baseman Kyle Mendenhall and senior right-hander Devon Perez on Sunday for Senior Day. Mendenhall ranks third on the team this season with a .316 average with three home runs and 32 RBI. During his four-year career, Mendenhall has made 158 starts and appeared in 186 career games. Perez has a 10-4 career record with a 3.95 ERA. As a junior, Perez posted a 6-2 record to earn a spot on the All-Big 12 honorable mention team.
Jake Irvin has started all 11 series openers for Oklahoma this season and 11 of 13 weekend game ones as a sophomore in 2017. He is 11-2 in those 22 starts with 13 starts of six innings or more. When Irvin won the series opener, the Sooners have won 10 of 11 series. When Irvin took a loss, no-decision or did not start game one, OU has won five of 12 series.
Steele Walker hit .688 (11-for-16) at Texas Tech (4/20-22). He notched at least three hits in every game; matching his career-high with four twice. Walker is a career .512 (22-for-43) hitter against the Red Raiders. In game two, he homered and doubled in a 4-for-5, two-RBI performance. In the finale, Walker went 4-for-6 against a variety of Tech defensive shifts; twice beating the defensive alignment for singles to center and right and finally with all four infielders on the right side he blasted a two-run home run in the eighth. Walker owned a .706 on-base percentage and slugged 1.188 for an astounding 1.894 OPS.
Kansas State was swept by Baylor at home last weekend and had its midweek contest with Wichita State canceled due to rain. The Wildcats enter the series at 18-26 overall and 3-12, in ninth place, in the Big 12. Outfielder Will Brennan leads the Wildcats and ranks fourth with a .358 batting average. Brennan is also tied for fifth with 17 stolen bases. Outfileder Drew Mount leads K-State with nine home runs and five triples, while hitting .268. Senior Justin Heskett has made 11 starts for the Wildcats this season, and has a 2-6 record with a 6.92 ERA.

Steele Walker: Hit two home runs and drove in four during last year's series win in Manhattan. Brylie Ware: .333/.500/.778 ... Hit a three-run homer in a 11-5 road win against Kansas State (5/5/17).
Oklahoma leads the series against Kansas State with a 158-60 all-time record, including a 73-17 advantage in Norman. The Sooners won the first six games of the series and own the series' longest win streak at 27 games. In the last five seasons, the two sides have met in the Big 12 Championship four times with OU winning three, including elimination games in 2015 and 2016.
