Anderson Earns Second MPSF Weekly Honor

NORMAN – For the second time this season, Oklahoma men's gymnastics junior Levi Anderson has been named MPSF Gymnast of the Week.

This marks the eighth time in a row an OU gymnast has won the award.

Anderson posted his second-highest all-around score this season on Friday, totaling an 83.700. The junior notched scores of 14.000 or higher on still rings (14.000), vault (14.350), parallel bars (14.100) and high bar (14.850).

Anderson played a crucial role in the Sooners' comeback victory against Ohio State last weekend. Through two rotations, OU trailed by more than three points. The Sooners fought back to within a point of the Buckeyes heading into the final rotation. Led by Anderson's 14.100, OU's parallel bars lineup completed the comeback with a 68.450, winning 413.650-412.700.

After his impressive performance in Columbus, Ohio, Anderson returned to the top five in the national all-around standings, ranking fourth with an 82.200 average. In addition to his all-around ranking, the Houston, Texas, native owns the third-best average on high bar (14.250) and ranks 10th on parallel bars (14.117).

The Sooners have benefitted from Anderson's consistent performance all season. He has been an all-around performer in four of seven meets and has registered a career-high 86.100 outing, the second-highest score in the NCAA this season. Anderson has also registered career highs on still rings (14.000) and parallel bars (14.250) in 2018.

OU's postseason begins Saturday, April 7 at 6 p.m. CT with the MPSF Championships in Colorado Springs, Colo. The Sooners look to claim their seventh consecutive conference championship as they take on Air Force, California and Stanford.
