Two Sooners Named to Preseason All-Big 12 Baseball Team

Brylie Ware Named Big 12 Player of the Week

IRVING, Texas – University of Oklahoma baseball junior third baseman Brylie Ware (Sedgwick, Kan.) earned his second career weekly honor from the Big 12 as the conference Player of the Week for the week ending March 25. A 2017 Big 12 Co-Newcomer of the Year, Ware earned his first weekly honor as the Newcomer of the Week on March 13, 2016.

In a 3-1 week for the Sooners, Ware hit a team-leading .562 (9-for-16), including .500 (6-for-12) with nine RBI in a series sweep of West Virginia at home. He went 3-for-4 in each of the first two games of the week beginning at No. 26 Wichita State on Tuesday night. Ware opened the series vs. the Mountaineers by complimenting his three-hit night with a career-high six RBI; the most by a Sooner since Craig Aikin's six vs. Little Rock (3/3/15). He singled, doubled and tripled in the Sooners' 19-6 win.

Ware was 2-for-4 with two RBI and a double in game one of Saturday's doubleheader and 1-for-4 in the nightcap; driving in the game-winning run on a sixth-inning base hit. For the week, he totaled three doubles and three runs scored.

Two Sooners earned Big 12 Player of the Week in 2017; Renae Martinez (4/3/17) and Austin O'Brien (5/15/17).

Oklahoma is at home for four games this week beginning against Oklahoma State in a non-conference Bedlam tilt on Tuesday, March27 at 6:30 p.m. Due to the Easter holiday, the Sooners' weekend series vs. Baylor begins on Thursday, March 29 and wraps up Saturday, March 31 at 4 p.m. as OU's annual “Bark in the Park” event, where fans can bring their dogs to L.
