January 30, 2018 | Men's Gymnastics

NORMAN — After a strong performance in Oklahoma's season-opening win, junior Yul Moldauer was named NCAA and MPSF Gymnast of the Week on Tuesday.

Moldauer, who swept gymnast of the week honors twice in 2017, won event titles on pommel horse, still rings and parallel bars in OU's victory at Michigan on Saturday.

The All-American picked up right where he left off last season. His 15.050 on parallel bars leaves him ranked first nationally on the event, 0.450 points ahead of second. On still rings, the reigning national champion notched a 14.950, good for second in the NCAA this season. He rounded out his meet with a title on pommel horse (13.900) and a fourth-place finish on high bar (13.250).

The Arvada, Colo., native helped OU back to the top of the NCAA rankings and a team score of 411.650, the fourth-highest total in the country this year. His performance on parallel bars charged the Sooners to a 70.650, the nation's top score in the event so far this season. On still rings, Moldauer led the Sooners to a team score of 70.350, which currently ranks as the second-best score in the NCAA this year.

No. 1 OU will compete at home for the first time this season when it hosts No. 2 Nebraska and No. 4 Stanford on Saturday at 7 p.m. CT inside McCasland Field House. Tickets are available for purchase at SoonerSports.com or by calling the OU Athletics Tickets Office at (405) 325-2424 or toll-free at (800) 456-GoOU.
