BOISE, Idaho – The Oklahoma soccer team dropped its first of two weekend matches, 1-0, to Oregon Friday afternoon in Boise, Idaho.
After a scoreless 88 minutes, it looked as though the Sooners would be headed to overtime for the third time this season. With just under a minute to go on the clock, Oregon's Kyra Fawcett played a cross from Miranda Schulz for a point-blank finish to give the Ducks the 1-0 advantage.
Scoreless after the first 45 minutes, the Sooners came out of halftime on the attack. Oklahoma maintained solid possession, rattling off a pair of quick shots on goal after not recording a shot for the first 17 minutes of the first half.
Oklahoma's best scoring chance came in the 51st minute off a corner kick from Lizzie Luallin. Luallin found Kaylee Dao, who headed the ball perfectly on goal but right into the hands of the Oregon keeper.
Dao led the Sooners with four shots on the day, including two on goal. Rasha Roberts, Kristi O'Donnell and Luallin all recorded one shot apiece.
McKinley Crone picked up four saves, including three in the first half of play. Oregon outshot the Sooners 16-7 for the day, with a 5-3 shots on goal advantage.
Up next for the Sooners is a Sunday afternoon match against Boise State. The Sooners and Broncos will face off at 3 p.m. with a live stream available on the Mountain West Network.
