Times Announced for UTEP, Tulane Games

May 31, 2017 | Football

NORMAN — Start times and TV information for Oklahoma's two 2017 home non-conference football games were announced Wednesday. OU's Sept. 2 season opener against UTEP will kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT and air on FOX, while the Sept. 16 contest against Tulane will start at 5 p.m. CT and be televised by FOX Sports Oklahoma on a pay-per-view basis.

OU's game against UTEP will mark the fourth all-time meeting between the programs. The Sooners are 3-0 in the series and have outscored UTEP by a 147-21 margin. All three games were played in the Bob Stoops era. Oklahoma won the first matchup 55-14 in Norman during its 2000 national championship season, won 68-0 two years later in Norman and posted a 24-7 victory in the 2012 opener in El Paso, Texas.

Oklahoma's contest against Tulane will constitute the first meeting between the Sooners and Green Wave. Pay-per-view details will be announced at a later date.

OU has claimed more Big 12 championships (10) than it has lost home games under Bob Stoops.

OU is 101-9 at home under Stoops, good for the best home winning percentage (.918) among Power 5 programs over the last 18 years. All 110 of those contests have been sellouts. The Sooners have claimed more Big 12 championships (10) under Stoops than they have lost home games.

A consensus top-10 pick in national spring media polls, OU is rated No. 4 by Pro Football Focus, No. 7 by Sports Illustrated and Sporting News, No. 8 by ESPN.com, FoxSports.com and Athlon, and No. 9 by CBSSports.com.

FOX also announced Wednesday that OU's Nov. 4 game at Oklahoma State will air on FOX or FS1. Kickoff time is to be determined.

Last week it was announced that the Sooners' Sept. 9 contest at Ohio State will start at 6:30 p.m. CT and be televised by ABC.
