NORMAN - Oklahoma women's basketball and Nike unveiled special alternate uniforms that the Sooners will wear during their upcoming game against Oregon at the PK80 Invitational.
PK80 features four of the nation's top women's basketball programs for a one-day doubleheader in Eugene, Ore., on Nov. 25. The event will honor Nike co-founder Phil Knight and his 80th birthday. Nike designed alternate uniforms for all four teams that are competing.
The PK80 uniform that the Sooners will wear against the Ducks includes a wood grain design that is inspired by the rugged wood and iron of the Sooner Schooner. The jersey features a black Nike swoosh as a tribute to Knight's favorite color.
OU's shorts were also designed with a wood grain trim, a black Nike swoosh and a wagon wheel buckle. The Sooners will wear crimson socks and black accessories with the new uniform combination.
To honor Knight, each team will also wear all-black versions of four different Nike shoes. The Kyrie 3, PG1, Kobe AD and KD10 models were designed to showcase Knight's signature style. Each shoe has an all-black base that pays tribute to Knight's all-black outfits. Each model also showcases a gold Nike swoosh in an ode to Knight's shining shades.
The Sooners will take on No. 10 Oregon at 4:30 p.m. CT inside Matthew Knight Arena next Saturday. The game will be televised on the Pac 12 Network.
No. 1 Connecticut will face Michigan State to open the PK80 Invitational at 2 p.m. CT.
