NORMAN — The No. 23 Oklahoma soccer team plays its first two Big 12 road matches this weekend when it faces Iowa State and No. 4 West Virginia. The Sooners will take on Iowa State at 7 p.m. CT on Friday in Ames, Iowa, before playing the Mountaineers at 2 p.m. CT on Sunday in Morgantown, W.Va.

GAMEDAY STORYLINES

ON THE ROAD AGAIN
Oklahoma continues its Big 12 slate when it hits the road for contests against Iowa State and No. 4 West Virginia. This season, the Sooners have won five matches away from Norman, posting a 4-1-0 overall record in true road contests and a 1-0-0 mark at neutral sites.

WINNING WAYS
Currently, the Sooners are on a seven-match winning streak, the second longest in program history behind a stretch of nine consecutive victories in the 2005 season.

PERFECT 10
This weekend, the Sooners will be looking to reach the 10-win threshold for the third straight season and eighth time in program history. OU will also aim to surpass its Big 12 record of 3-2-3 from a season ago.

BREAKING INTO THE RANKINGS
This week, the Sooners made their season debut in the national polls, checking in at No. 23 in both the NSCAA and Top Drawer Soccer rankings. It marks OU's first appearance in the NSCAA poll since the week of Sept. 21, 2014. Additionally, the polls set up a top-25 showdown between the Sooners and Mountaineers on Sunday.

RPI UPDATE
In the second NCAA Women's RPI released this week, the Sooners checked in at No. 6, just behind Sunday's opponent, West Virginia (No. 5). Friday's foe Iowa State sits at No. 31, while Texas Tech (No. 30), Kansas (No. 35) and TCU (No. 43) are also ranked in the top 50. Other Big 12 squads are Texas (No. 54), Baylor (No. 99) and Oklahoma State (No. 109).

SECOND-HALF SURGE
The Sooners have shined offensively following halftime so far this season. Of OU's 23 total goals, 17 have come in the second frame and two have come in overtime.

BALANCED ATTACK
Through OU's first 12 matches, 21 Sooners have seen playing time, showcasing the depth the team has on its roster. The Sooners have seen 11 different goal scorers, with senior Liz Keester leading the way with six. Senior Rachel Ressler has scored three times, while senior Shiloh Price, juniors Madeline Brem and Lizzie Luallin and sophomore Kaylee Dao have two goals. Senior Madison Saliba, junior Rasha Roberts and sophomores Angela Boyle, Jordan Hobart and Emily Parker all have a goal each.

20 YEARS OF OKLAHOMA SOCCER
This season, the Sooners are celebrating 20 years of the Oklahoma soccer program, which was founded in 1996.

LAST TIME OUT
• Oklahoma open its Big 12 slate with a pair of wins, grabbing victories over previously-undefeated TCU, 1-0, on Friday night and Texas, 2-1, in overtime on Sunday afternoon.

• Against TCU, junior defender Madeline Brem recorded the decisive score on a penalty kick after classmate Lizzie Luallin drew a foul inside the box in the 15th minute. Redshirt senior goalkeeper Kassidie Stade and the OU defense finished with their fourth shutout of the season.

• After trailing for 78 minutes against Texas, junior midfielder Rasha Roberts recorded the equalizer in the 86th minute to force overtime off an assist from Brem. With just 29 seconds remaining in the first overtime frame, Luallin tallied the golden goal off a give-and-go pass from senior forward Liz Keester.

SCOUTING REPORTS

IOWA STATE
• Iowa State enters the match with a 7-3-0 overall record, including a 1-1-0 mark in Big 12 contests. The Cyclones opened conference play with a 1-0 victory at Oklahoma State before dropping a 3-0 decision at Texas Tech.

• Freshman midfielder Hannah Cade is the reigning Big 12 Freshman of the Week. Against Oklahoma State, she scored the game winner to give the Cyclones their first conference win since 2014.

• Four Iowa State players have scored two goals each in senior forward Koree Willer, sophomore forward Klasey Medelberg, freshman forward Tegan Alexander and Cade. The Cyclones have tallied 10 assists on 13 goals while giving up 11 scores.

• Junior Lindsey Hendon has played the majority of minutes in goal for the Cyclones, starting all 10 matches and playing all but one half. She has tallied 42 saves and allowed eight goals (0.83 GAA) on her way to a 7-3-0 overall record.

WEST VIRGINIA
• The No. 4 Mountaineers hold an 8-1-1 overall record in 2016. The Mountaineers, who are coming off a 4-1 victory at Richmond on Sept. 23, will open Big 12 play against Baylor on Friday.

• Eleven Mountaineers have combined to score 21 goals, while the WVU defense has given up just six. Junior forward Michaela Abam leads the team with five goals, and junior forward Heather Kaleichi has scored four. Junior midfielder Carla Portillo has recorded a team-high four assists, and junior defender Amandine Pierre-Louis has added three.

• WVU has not lost a home conference game since 2009, boasting a 30-match unbeaten streak in conference play at home. The Mountaineers are undefeated at home against Big 12 competition since joining the league prior to the start of the 2012 season.

• Freshman Rylee Foster and junior Michelle Newhouse have both seen time in goal, playing 644:07 and 287:31 minutes, respectively. Foster has allowed four goals, has corralled 20 saves and holds a 0.56 goals against average mark, and Newhouse has allowed two goals, grabbed eight saves and has a 0.63 GAA.
