NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma baseball team has scheduled to welcome back its deep alumni base for the team's alumni weekend October 28-30. Head coach Pete Hughes and the Sooners will also honor the 1951 College World Series Champions in a 65th anniversary celebration.
The weekend begins with a golf tournament at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club on Friday, October 28. The day will culminate with an evening reception and dinner. Those interested in participating in the golf tournament or sponsoring a hole can get more information by contacting the OU baseball office at 405-325-8354. The registration deadline for the golf tournament is October 14.
On Saturday, October 29, baseball alums and their families will be invited to the Varsity O tailgate three hours prior to the Sooner football team's game against Kansas on homecoming weekend. Alumni may request two complimentary tickets in advance and are available for pickup at the Friday night reception of Saturday at will call. Members of the 1951 team in attendance will be recognized on the field during the game. The official kick-off time of the game will be determined closer to the date of the contest.
The final event of the weekend will be an alumni game at L. Dale Mitchell Park at 11 a.m. on Sunday, October 30. Former Sooners are encouraged to take the field again in the Crimson & Cream as the game will match alumni vs. alumni.
