NORMAN, Okla. -- Games like this don't come around very often, but when they do, the Sooners have been up for it.
In head coach Bob Stoops' 18 seasons at Oklahoma, the Sooners are 2-0 at home against top-three teams and 5-1 in top-15 matchups, with the only loss coming in 2012 to then-No. 5 and eventual national runner-up Notre Dame.
Overall, Oklahoma is 41-2 (.953) at home under Stoops in nonconference games.
With Ohio State being the highest-ranked opponent to come to town since the Sooners beat No. 2 Texas Tech 65-21 in 2008, we take a look back at the biggest games in Norman (based on rankings), during the Stoops era.

It came down to one play, and Steven Parker made it. Parker batted away Bram Kohlhausen's 2-point conversion attempt with less than a minute left and the No. 7 Sooners survived a late comeback attempt to beat No. 11 TCU 30-29.
Samaje Perine ran for 188 yards and a touchdown and Heisman Trophy contender Baker Mayfield completed 9 of 20 passes for 127 yards and two touchdowns for Oklahoma (10-1, 7-1 Big 12, No. 7 CFP) before leaving with a head injury after the first half.
The following week, the Sooners beat No. 9 Oklahoma State 58-23 in Stillwater to claim the program's ninth Big 12 title and a spot in the College Football Playoff.

Everett Golson threw for 177 yards and plunged in for the decisive 1-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, Manti Te'o bolstered his Heisman Trophy candidacy with a late interception and No. 5 Notre Dame beat No. 8 Oklahoma 30-13 to remain undefeated.
?
Te'o, the standout linebacker who has a penchant for causing turnovers, dove when Landry Jones' pass ricocheted off of Jalen Saunders and got his gloved hands under it. Kyle Brindza tacked on his third field goal soon after, and Theo Riddick added a late touchdown run as the Fighting Irish (8-0) put it away with 20 fourth-quarter points.
Notre Dame went on to play for the national championship, falling to Alabama 42-14.

Sam Bradford jumped around as he took a victory lap at Owen Field, handing out high-fives along the way to a line of adoring fans that had yet another reason to love him.
Bradford threw for 304 yards and four touchdowns, and DeMarco Murray and Chris Brown combined to run for five more scores as the fifth-ranked Sooners brought an unceremonious end to No. 2 Texas Tech's run toward perfection in a 65-21 blowout Saturday night.
''I can't remember a game where I even had near as much fun,'' Bradford said.
OU completed a string of five straight games scoring 60+ points with wins over Oklahoma State and Missouri the next two weeks, earning the Big 12 title and the right to play for a national championship.

Bob Stoops silently stewed as he listened to the chatter coming from Oklahoma State all week.
Oklahoma's coach had the final say after the rout was over.
"Sometimes it's good to be doubted," Stoops said after his top-ranked Sooners beat No. 14 Oklahoma State 52-9.
OU finished the season with a 12-2 record and a BCS National Championship Game appearance vs. LSU in the Sugar Bowl.

Nate Hybl kept rubbing his red, swollen nose as he sat deep inside Memorial Stadium. "Sorry my nose is a little swollen,'' said Hybl, who had taken a hit from an Iowa State defender. "I feel like Rudolph.''
That was about the only blemish on the performance of Hybl and the second-ranked Sooners, who delivered a brutal blow of reality to No. 9 Iowa State in beating the Cyclones 49-3.
"It never seemed it would end,'' Iowa State coach Dan McCarney said.
The Sooners would go on to finish the season with a 12-2 record and beat Washington State 34-14 in the Rose Bowl.
