GAMEDAY STORYLINES

HITTING THE ROAD
After opening the 2016 season with four straight home matches, the Oklahoma soccer team hits the road for the first time this season to start a six-contest stretch away from Norman. The Sooners started the season on a solid note, posting a 2-1-1 overall record in their early matches at John Crain Field, and will look for similar results on the road.

FACING RANKED FOES
No. 3 Virginia will be the third ranked opponent through OU's first five matches. So far, the Sooners are 1-0-1 in such contests, defeating then-No. 25 Loyola Marymount, 4-1, and drawing 1-1 with No. 24 South Carolina.

BALANCED ATTACK
Through OU's first four matches, 20 Sooners have seen playing time, showcasing the depth the team has on its roster. Four players have combined to score five goals, with sophomore forward/midfielder Kaylee Dao leading the way with two, including one against Loyola Marymount and the game-winner against Oklahoma State. Senior defender Rachel Ressler tallied OU's score against South Carolina in the season opener and sophomore defenders Angela Boyle and Jordan Hobart adding goals in the Loyola Marymount contest. The scores were the first in the collegiate careers of Boyle and Hobart. Additionally, senior forward Liz Keester and junior midfielder Lizzie Luallin contributed two assists apiece, while senior midfielder Shiloh Price assisted on Dao's score against OSU.

20 YEARS OF OKLAHOMA SOCCER
This season, the Sooners are celebrating 20 years of the Oklahoma soccer program, which was founded in 1996.

LAST TIME OUT
The Sooners suffered their first loss of the season last Sunday, falling by a score of 1-0 to Utah Valley at John Crain Field. The Wolverines scored the game's lone goal in the 16th minute, and OU had solid chances in the second half but could not quite connect. The loss snapped an 11-match home unbeaten streak for the Sooners, during which they posted an 8-0-3 overall record.

BEDLAM SUCCESS
In a non-conference Bedlam matchup against in-state foe Oklahoma State last Friday, the Sooners snagged a 1-0 victory. The win was the seventh in school history for OU over its in-state rival and the fifth under head coach Matt Potter's direction. The Sooners are now 5-3-1 against the Cowgirls with Potter, who is in his fifth season, at the helm of the program. The game-winning goal came from sophomore forward/midfielder Kaylee Dao off an assist from senior midfielder Shiloh Price in the 81st minute.
