NORMAN, Okla. – University of Oklahoma volleyball officially kicked off its 2016 season on Tuesday morning at 8 a.m., the first half of their two-a-day schedule. The Sooners are only 11 days away from their annual “Crimson N' Cream” match at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 20.

Head coach Santiago Restrepo's squad features four new faces following the loss of seniors Julia Doyle, Taylor Migliazzo and Kierra Holst. Joining the team are three freshman outside hitters – Manuela Conte, Erin Dibble and Morgan Turner – as well as freshman setter Ashley Brown.

Oklahoma welcomes back two 2016 preseason All-Big 12 nominees, redshirt-senior Madison Ward and junior Marion Hazelwood. The Sooners also return their 2015 digs leader, senior Kimmy Gardiner, and their 2015 leader in solo blocks, senior Micaela Spann.

Oklahoma's first match will come versus Oral Roberts on Friday, August 26 at 7 p.m. and will be followed by two more home matches versus UTEP and UMKC on Saturday, August 27.
