Sooners in the NFL: Preseason Week 2

Week two of the 2016 NFL preseason is complete. There are 42 former Sooners on active NFL rosters, though the first cuts come Tuesday at 3 p.m. CT when teams must get down to 75-man rosters.

Stills Enjoys Big Game in Lone Star State

Fourth-year wide receiver Kenny Stills put on a show for Miami fans against Dallas, making three highlight-reel receptions for 71 yards and two touchdowns as the Dolphins fell to the Cowboys 41-14.

Midway through the first quarter, Stills made his first catch as he got behind the Dallas secondary for a 55-yard gain.? In the second, he caught a 10-yard touchdown pass in traffic to cut a 14-point Dallas lead in half. Later in the quarter, he used an out-and-up route to catch a four-yard pass for his second score of the game.

The standout performance in the Dallas metro area by Stills is nothing new for Sooners fans. In three career games against Texas in the Cotton Bowl, Stills caught 13 passes for 166 yards and three touchdowns.

Also for the Dolphins in the win over the Cowboys, Damien Williams rushed twice for two yards and added an additional catch for another yard, while Jordan Phillips started at defensive tackle.

Millard Injured

A torn ACL cost fullback Trey Millard part of his senior year at Oklahoma and has limited his playing time to the preseason since the 2014 season. So it was an unfortunate sight to see him carted off the field during the third quarter Saturday with a knee sprain in the Chiefs' 21-20 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. A prognosis has not been given for how long he is expected to be out.

Also in the game, defensive back Jamell Fleming made two tackles for the Chiefs, while defensive lineman David King had one and James Winchester served as the team's long snapper.

Rookie Update

Carolina fifth round selection Zack Sanchez made two tackles and had the first interception of his professional career when he picked off a deflected pass in the second quarter of 26-16 victory over Tennessee. Sanchez is listed as the No. 2 left cornerback on the Panthers' depth chart.

Undrafted wide receiver Durron Neal caught the first three passes of his pro career for 21 yards, including a four-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, as Denver fell to San Francisco, 31-24. Fellow undrafted rookie Frank Shannon saw playing time but did not have any stats for the Broncos. Neal is listed as a fifth-string wide receiver on the Broncos' depth chart, while Shannon is a fourth-string inside linebacker.

Former teammates Eric Striker and Sterling Shepard faced off as Striker and the Bills shut out Shepard and the Giants, 21-0. Both played in the game but neither recorded a stat, though Striker did have a penalty on him declined and Shepard was targeted once. Striker is listed as “other” on the Bills' depth chart at outside linebacker, while Shepard is getting some strong hype from teammates.

Selected in the fourth round by Dallas, Charles Tapper has missed both of the Cowboys' preseason games due to a low-back strain. He's currently slotted in as the No. 3 right defensive end on the team's depth chart.

Sixth-round linebacker Devante Bond did not record any stats for Tampa Bay in a 27-21 win over Jacksonville. He's currently tabbed as the backup “Sam” linebacker on the Buccaneers' depth chart.

After recording five tackles last week, undrafted linebacker Dominique Alexander added four more for Cleveland in a 24-13 loss to Atlanta. Browns head coach Hue Jackson said that Alexander's stock is rising and added “we are glad he's here.”

Guard Nila Kasitati, another undrafted player, played on 25 offensive snaps (32 percent) in Washington's 22-18 win over the New York Jets. He's currently listed as the third-string right guard on Washington's depth chart.

Sam Bradford started at quarterback and completed 14 of 19 passes for 115 yards, including a 22-yard completion to Nelson Agholor, while Lane Johnson saw playing time as Philadelphia shut out Pittsburgh, 17-0 ... Landry Jones had a day to forget for the Steelers as he was intercepted four times while throwing for 111 yards on 12-20 passing ... Chris Chester started at right guard for Atlanta in its win over Cleveland ... DeMarco Murray gained 20 yards on five carries in Tennessee's loss to Carolina ... Donald Stephenson started at right tackle and opened a hole on this 19-yard touchdown run, while linebacker Corey Nelson had two tackles in the Broncos' loss to the 49ers ... Aaron Ripkowski started at fullback for the Packers, carrying the ball twice for four yards and catching one pass for 13 yards in a 20-12 victory over Oakland ... Raiders defensive tackle Stacy McGee made two tackles in the loss ... Geneo Grissom tallied five tackles, including three on special teams, for New England in its 23-22 victory over Chicago ... defensive back Demontre Hurst recorded two tackles in the Bears' loss ... Tress Way averaged 47.7 yards on seven punts for Washington in its win over the New York Jets ... safety Tony Jefferson made three tackles for Arizona in a 19-3 setback to San Diego ... cornerback Aaron Colvin produced three tackles for Jacksonville in the Jaguars' 27-21 loss to Tampa Bay ... Gerald McCoy started at defensive tackle for the Buccaneers
