Meet the Freshmen: Madison Verge

This fall, the Oklahoma soccer team will welcome five freshmen into the Sooner family in Lauren Haivala, Madissen Lewis, Kristina O'Donnell, Ivanna Rivas and Madison Verge. Verge, who is from Broken Arrow, Okla., rounds out the series introducing fans to these five new Sooners.

Why I Chose Oklahoma:

When I came on my visit to OU my freshman year, I remember sitting in the locker room and just wanting to be in that spot one day. I loved everything about the coaches and the team. The campus is absolutely beautiful and made me feel completely at home. It was also very important that I went to a school close enough to home but also the perfect distance away, OU was just that!

My favorite Part of OU/Norman so Far:

My favorite part about Norman and OU so far Is definitely the soccer and all of the girls! I also love getting to meet all of the new people here!

Something I'd like for Sooner Fans to Know About Me:

I am insanely obsessed with my Chihuahua, Ren.

My Biggest Strengths as a Soccer Player:

I would have to say my biggest strengths as a soccer player are my size, speed and versatility on the field.

I would really like to improve on quicker decision-making on the field.

You have been enrolled at OU since the spring. What did you take from the experience of coming to OU a semester early?

Coming in the spring was such an incredible experience. It was so helpful to have the opportunity to adjust to the program and also adjust in the school part of it, too. The girls on the team were so great and so friendly when I came and immediately made me feel as if I were part of the family here. Although I loved the spring semester, I am so excited that the rest of my class is here now and can enjoy it all with me as well!
