Sheldon Neuse (Fort Worth, Texas) ranks in the top-100 of six offensive categories in the nation and his slash line ranks top-five in the Big 12. he hit .369 with a .465 on-base percentage and league-leading .646 slugging percentage.

“It's not even debatable. This year, Sheldon is the best player I've ever coached," stated head coach Pete Hughes. "I don't throw superlatives out there, but it is what it is. The kid leads our team in hitting, slugging percentage. There's nothing up for debate right there. He's the best two-way player in the country and he still has upside. I don't know if I've coached a better player than what we're seeing right now with Sheldon.”

Neuse, who was the Big 12 Freshman of the Year in 2014, drove in a career-best 48 runs and scored 42 to go with 15 doubles, five triples and 10 home runs, while adding 12 stolen bases. On the mound, he made a career-high 14 relief appearances. Neuse went 4-1 with five saves, a 1.40 earned run average and 19 strikeouts in 19.1 innings as opponents hit just .148 off him.

He became the 40th player in program history to score 100 runs with 100 RBI in a Sooner career against Kansas State (5/7). Late in that series against the Wildcats (5/8), Neuse launched the 23rd home run of his career, which went for his 200th. He became the 18th player in OU history to reach the 200-hit mark in a career.

Neuse Honored with Brooks Wallace Award

LUBBOCK, Texas (July 1, 2016) – University of Oklahoma baseball shortstop Sheldon Neuse (Fort Worth, Texas) has been awarded the Brooks Wallace Award from the College Baseball Hall of Fame in recognition as the best shortstop in the nation.

The Brooks Wallace Award, sponsored by Mizuno, is presented annually to honor the nation's most outstanding shortstop. It is a tribute to Brooks Wallace, a slick-fielding shortstop at Texas Tech from 1977-80 who passed away at the age of 27 after a courageous battle with leukemia. Prior to 2009, the award recognized the national player of the year.

Neuse Reaches Consensus All-America Status

OMAHA, Neb. (June 27, 2016) – Perfect Game USA named Sheldon Neuse (Fort Worth, Texas) a First Team All-American; marking the third such honor for Neuse this season, which makes him the first consensus All-American at OU since Jon Gray in 2013. 

D1Baseball.com Names Neuse First Team All-American

OMAHA, Neb. (June 16, 2016) – University of Oklahoma shortstop Sheldon Neuse (Fort Worth, Texas) was named a First Team All-American by D1Baseball. com on Thursday morning. The award marks the third All-America honor for Neuse and the second First Team nod.

Neuse is joined on the First Team by one Big 12 rival as Oklahoma State pitcher Thomas Hatch earned a spot. Around the league, Texas Tech first baseman Eric Gutierrez and TCU utility player Luken Baker made the Second Team.

Neuse Adds NCBWA All-America and ABCA All-Region on Same Day

Morgantown, W.Va. (June 15, 2016) – University of Oklahoma shortstop Sheldon Neuse (Fort Worth, Texas) received a pair of postseason honors from the National Collegeiate Baseball Writers Association and American Baseball Coaches Assosiation on Wednesday. He earned First Team All-America recognition from the NCBWA and First Team All-Midwest from the ABCA; which automatically places him into the ABCA All-America pool of candidates.

Neuse is the only Big 12 representative on the NCBWA All-America Team; which recognizes a first, second and third team.

LUBBOCK, Texas (June 14, 2016) – University of Oklahoma baseball shortstop Sheldon Neuse (Fort Worth, Texas), a recent second round pick of the Washington Nationals, has been named a finalist for the Brooks Wallace Award, which is awarded to the nation's best shortstop by the College Baseball Hall of Fame.

The Brooks Wallace Award, sponsored by Mizuno, is presented annually to honor the nation's most outstanding shortstop. Joining Neuse as finalists are Devin Hairston of Louisville and Charles Leblanc of Pittsburgh. In 2013, Sooner pitcher Jon Gray was honored by the CBHOF as the National Pitcher of the Year.

Louisville Slugger All-American

TUCSON, Ariz. (June 2, 2016) – University of Oklahoma baseball shortstop Sheldon Neuse continues to rake in the postseason awards as he was named a Louisville Slugger Second Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball News on Tuesday. Neuse, who earned Freshman All-America in 2014, is the Sooners' first All-American since Jonathan Gray and Matt Oberste in 2013.

A two-way player at shortstop and pitcher, Neuse earned the Second Team utility position. Only the second three-time unanimous All-Big 12 First Team selection in league history, Neuse anchored the OU infield and hit third or clean-up in the Sooners lineup, while also serving as the team's closer. Golden Spikes Award Semifinalist

DURHAM, N.C. (June 1, 2016) – University of Oklahoma baseball shortstop Sheldon Neuse has been named Golden Spikes Award semifinalist. The Golden Spikes Award is presented annually by USA Baseball to the top amateur player in the country. Neuse, who recently completed his junior year, entered the season on the award's preseason watch list for the second season in a row.

Fans are encouraged to vote at GoldenSpikesAward.com now through June 8.

Neuse, who is the only Big 12 representative named a Golden Spikes semifinalist, is also a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy and John Olerud Award. The group of semifinalists will be trimmed down to finalists announced on June 13 and following a second fan vote the Golden Spikes Award presented on June 30.

Three-Time Unanimous All-Big 12 First Team

OKLAHOMA CITY (May 24, 2016) – University of Oklahoma baseball junior shortstopSheldon Neuse earned unanimous All-Big 12 First Team as announced by the league on Tuesday morning. He becomes one of just 10 players in the 20-year history of the league to make the First Team three times and is just the second player to become a unanimous selection three times.

Entering the postseason, Neuse led the Big 12 in slugging percentage at .672 and ranked second in hitting at .376 and fourth in on-base percentage at .464. His 10 home runs and 46 RBI were both tied for third in the league. Neuse has added 15 doubles and five triples; tied for the league lead.

Neuse joined former TCU pitcher Preston Morrison as the only three-time unanimous picks in league history. He is the first three-time First Team player from OU since Casey Bookout (1997-99).
