Wood Fires Career-Best Round at NCAA Regional

NORMAN – OU women's golfer Hannah Wood fired a 66 (-6), a career best in relation to par, in Friday's second round of the NCAA Bryan Regional. Wood is competing as an individual in the tournament, which is being played at the par-72, 6,373-yard Texas Tradition Golf Club in Bryan, Texas.

Wood strung together six birdies in her bogey-free round for the 66 (-6), which is also tied for OU's second-best 18-hole low score. The Centennial, Colo., native pocketed three birdies each in the front and back nine to share fourth place out of 96 competitors with a two-round 138 (-6). The last time Wood shot a 66 was in the second round of the 2015 Schooner Fall Classic (66;-5).

“Hannah had another great round today,” OU head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell said. “She made some clutch putts and stayed confident all day. She's playing at a high level right now and we are excited for the final round.”

Wood, who moved up 16 spots from her opening-round finish, is just three strokes off tournament leader Bronte Law of UCLA (135;-9). Gonzaga's Bianca Pagdangana, who is also playing as an individual, is in second place at -8, and Jillian Hollis of Georgia sits in third at -7.

Arizona and UCLA share the top spot of the team leaderboard, both at 568 (-8). Georgia is in third (569; -7) and Furman finished the day in fourth with a 574 (-2). Texas (+1) and Miami (+2) completed the second round in fifth and six places, respectively.

The NCAA Bryan Regional is one of four regional sites with each location hosting 18 teams and six individuals. Six teams and three individuals not on an advancing team per regional will move on to the NCAA Championships, slated for May 20-25 at the Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore.
