NORMAN — The No. 2 Oklahoma women's gymnastics team closed out its two-meet weekend with yet another impressive performance, defeating No. 23 West Virginia 197.900-195.250 in a Big 12 contest on Sunday afternoon inside Lloyd Noble Center.

The Sooners moved to 13-1 overall this season and 2-0 in Big 12 competition with the dual meet victory over the Mountaineers (2-4 overall, 0-3 Big 12). For the second straight meet, OU claimed all four team event titles and swept the individual honors. The Sooners have scored at least a 197 in their last six contests, and Sunday's team total stands as their second highest of the season.

“Wow. I was very excited about this competition. For one, we're coming off a meet on Friday, and at the NCAA Championships, we're going to compete back-to-back days like that. We've now had two weekends like that [this season]. These guys have come through amazing," OU head coach K.J. Kindler said. "They're obviously keeping their strength and showing that they have great fitness, which down the road is going to be incredibly important.

"It's great to see things clicking out there," Kindler continued. "We just look like we're really in a groove, and I'm seeing, number one, consistency, but number two, I'm seeing people outdo their own performances and every time you do that, you're getting better. [It was] just a really exciting meet overall."

Sophomore AJ Jackson (vault), junior McKenzie Wofford (bars), junior Chayse Capps (beam) and senior Haley Scaman (floor) all secured individual crowns with huge scores of 9.95. Capps snagged her second all-around title of the weekend with a 39.625.

On vault, Jackson's season-high-matching 9.95 paced the Sooners, who tallied a 49.375, their third-best score on the event this season. In the No. 5 spot, Scaman added a 9.875 for OU. A trio of Sooners in junior Charity Jones, freshman Alex Marks and Capps posted scores of 9.85. The score matched a career best for Marks, who also tallied a 9.85 in Friday's meet. Senior Keeley Kmieciak scored a 9.8 competing in the No. 3 slot. The Mountaineers opened the meet with a 48.800 on bars.

"We just need to reel in some vault landings again," Kindler said. "All it takes is a centimeter. Be a centimeter off and you don't stick that landing. I know that that's coming around and that will definitely impact our score, too."

In the second rotation, the Sooners recorded a 49.500 on bars, their second-highest mark this year, while the Mountaineers scored a 49.000 on vault. OU held a 98.875-97.800 advantage after the rotation. Wofford led the way on bars with a season-high-matching 9.95 in the anchor spot, her sixth score of at least 9.9 this season. Capps and Kmieciak added a pair of 9.9s, while both freshman Nicole Lehrmann and Scaman contributed marks of 9.875.

The Sooners used a season-high 49.425 on beam to stretch their lead to 148.300-146.550 after the third rotation. On floor, West Virginia added a 48.750. Capps put together another beautiful beam routine to score a meet-best 9.95. Sophomore Natalie Brown's beam routine earned her a 9.9, and Lehrmann added a career-high-matching 9.875 in the No. 2 spot. Kmieciak led off the beam rotation with a 9.85, and Jones added the same score in the No.4 spot. In her Lloyd Noble Center debut, sophomore Stefani Catour turned in a strong routine to tally a 9.85.

"Balance beam is really coming together for us, which is great," Kindler shared.

Scaman closed the meet with a stellar performance on floor, scoring a season-high 9.95 in the anchor spot. The Sooners recorded a 49.600 on the event, their second-highest total this season. Both Capps and Jackson turned in impressive 9.925s, which matched a season best for Jackson. Kmieciak started out the floor rotation strong, tying her career high with a 9.9, and Jones also added a 9.9 for the event. Kmieciak finished with a 39.450 in the all-around.

"Floor was super dynamic. With the fitness it takes to end on floor at home considering what it takes out of you not only physically but also emotionally, to post such a high score was exciting," Kindler said.

The Sooners will compete in the Perfect 10 Challenge at 6:45 p.m. CT on Friday, Feb. 12, inside Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City. Other teams at the quad-meet will be No. 13 Denver, No. 17 George Washington and No. 30 Utah State. Tickets are available for purchase online.
