Nelson, Williams Meet in Super Bowl 50

NORMAN ? Former Oklahoma teammates Corey Nelson and Daryl Williams will meet Sunday in Super Bowl 50 as the Denver Broncos face the Carolina Panthers. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. CT on CBS.
Nelson, a second-year linebacker for the Broncos, has played in 18 games this season, including each of the team's two postseason wins, though he has not recorded any stats in those games. He's made 16 tackles with one sack this season, with most of his playing time coming on special teams.
Williams is in his rookie season for the Panthers. The offensive tackle has played in 12 games, including Carolina's wins in the divisional round and conference championship. He's also started two games when the Panthers have opened in a jumbo formation.
The pair both enrolled at Oklahoma during the 2010 season, though Nelson played as a true freshman while Williams redshirted his first year in Norman.
Nelson finished his four-year career at OU with 153 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks and one interception in 45 career contests. He earned honorable mention All-Big 12 honors from the coaches and the AP during his sophomore season and was a two-time Academic All-Big 12 honoree. He was drafted by Denver in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL Draft.
A fourth-round draft pick by Carolina, Williams was a three-time All-Big 12 selection, earning honorable mention honors as a sophomore, second team recognition as a junior and first team accolades in his senior season. He played in 44 games during his OU career with 36 starts.
Should Nelson and Williams each play in Sunday's game, it'd mark the 59th and 60th occasions that a Sooner has appeared in the Super Bowl. The last to do it were Remi Ayodele and Garrett Hartley for the New Orleans Saints in 2009. Former Sooners have won the Super Bowl on 28 occasions.
