LAS VEGAS – Senior Kelsey Stevens threw a complete game shutout as No. 9/8 Oklahoma (2-2) took down Syracuse (1-2) by a score of 7-0 Saturday night at the Sportco Kick Off Classic in Las Vegas, Nev.

Stevens struck out six and walked none while giving up just three hits in throwing her 19th career shutout and her 12th at Oklahoma. The six strikeouts were her most since she had eight against Missouri State on March 8 of last year. Her record is now 1-1 on the year.

It was Stevens' first start without giving up a walk since May 23, 2014, in the Super Regionals against Tennessee. Of Stevens' 86 pitches against Syracuse Saturday, 66 went for strikes.

The Albuquerque, N.M., native struck out the side in the first and retired 10 straight batters between the second and sixth innings. She did not allow a runner to reach second base during the game.

Stevens was aided by an OU offense that scored in each of the first four innings.

Seniors Erin Miller and Whitney Montgomery each hit two-run homers, the first two home runs of the season for Oklahoma.

In the first, freshman Fale Aviu hit a one-out single to right field. Two pitches later, Miller hit the first home run of the season for the Sooners, and the 12th of her career, with a two-run shot to right field.

A similar situation played out in the second inning. Freshman Caleigh Clifton walked with one out and Montgomery followed by driving a 1-2 pitch to left center for her first homer of the year and the 15th during her time at OU.

Fellow senior Kady Self added two runs batted in, as well, with a two-run single in the third. Before Self's hit, which was her first of the year, Aviu singled and Miller doubled.

Montgomery then collected her third RBI of the game with a single in the fourth, scoring freshman Caleigh Clifton, who had tripled in the previous at-bat. Montgomery finished 3-3 at the plate with 3 RBI and a run scored. It was her fifth career game with at least three hits as she finished one off her career high.

Miller and freshman Fale Aviu each collected two hits and scored twice, while Clifton also scored two runs.

Oklahoma closes play in Las Vegas Sunday at 11 a.m. CT against Long Beach State.
