Stoops Announces Reynolds Departing OU

NORMAN — University of Oklahoma head football coach Bob Stoops announced Wednesday night that defensive line coach Diron Reynolds is leaving the program to take an assistant coaching position at another school.

With Reynolds on staff, OU led the Big 12 this past season in total defense (364.5 ypg), scoring defense (22.0 ppg), passing defense (202.8 ypg), pass efficiency defense (108.5) and sacks (3.08 per game). OU also finished second in the league in rushing defense (161.7 ypg) and interceptions (1.5 per game).

"Diron did an excellent job for us here at OU," said Stoops. "This move is going to allow him to reunite with his wife and children. We appreciate the work he did and wish him the best."

Added Stoops, "We will take our time to find a quality replacement, just like we did when we hired Diron."

The Sooners, who won the 2015 Big 12 title and advanced to the College Football Playoff Semifinals, finished with an 11-2 record.
