NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma volleyball team steps into the spotlight for a primetime match-up against No. 4 Kansas at McCasland Field House on Saturday night at 8 p.m. The match marks the second time this season the Sooners have hosted the fourth ranked team in the country.

Oklahoma snapped a three-match slide with a dominating 3-0 win over TCU at home last Saturday to avenge a five-set loss in Fort Worth earlier this season. The Sooners are now 13-10 overall and 4-6 in the Big 12, which puts them fifth in the league standings. Despite recording just one kill in OU's last outing, senior middle blocker Micaela Spann continues to lead the conference in hitting percentage at .387. Sophomore outside hitter Alyssa Enneking is approaching the team lead in kills per set at 3.01 to go with 2.28 digs, which ranks third on the team. Sophomore setter Audrey Alford remains in third in the league with 11.13 assists per set after recording her sixth double-double of the season the last time out. Junior middle blocker Marion Hazelwood has been consistent on both side of the net this season averaging 2.45 kills and a team-high 1.16 blocks per set.

Kansas has risen to No. 4 in the AVCA poll after a five-set win over then No. 2 Texas at home on Saturday night in five sets. The Jayhawks have won nine in a row, including five sweeps, and stand at 21-2 overall and 10-1 in the conference. Kelsie Payne leads the KU attack at 4.02 kills per set on a .316 attack rate. Madison Rigdon is first with 47 service aces, second with 3.61 kills and third at 2.33 digs per set. Pacing the offense is setter Ainise Havili, who averaged 10.67 assists per set.

Promotions

Saturday's match is Elementary School Day and Teacher Appreciation Day at McCasland Field House. Admission will be $4 for all teachers and their families. Prior to the match, a Sooner Jr. Kids Club tailgate will be held behind the north bleachers. A photo booth, face painter, balloon artist and pizza are all included in the tailgate. There will be $1 hot dogs and drinks as well as post-match autographs with the Sooners.

Last Time They Met

No. 8 Kansas took the Big 12 season opener from Oklahoma in Lawrence back on September 21, 3-0. Taylor Soucie hit a match-high .444 and tied Jayhawk teammate Madison Rigdon for the match-lead in kills with 10. Kimmy Gardiner, who picked up a team-high 16 digs, and Marion Hazelwood led the OU attack with eight kills apiece. Ainise Havili recorded a double-double for KU in a 37-assist, 10- dig effort.

All-Time vs. Kansas

Oklahoma leads the all-time series, 48-36. Kansas swept the season series in 2012 and won its third in a row against the Sooners in Lawrence on October 9, 2013. OU ended that streak with a 3-1 win at home on November 20, 2013 for its first win over the Jayhawks since sweeping the season series in 2011. The series started with a 2-0 OU win in 1976. KU has been ranked in each of the last five match-ups, including a Sooner win at home in 2014 against the No. 23 Jayhawks.

Getting Back on Track

The Sooners righted the ship with a 3-0 sweep of TCU at home last Saturday. It was a great bounce-back win for OU, which came up short against the Horned Frogs earlier this year. Oklahoma's .381 hitting percentage was its highest against a Big 12 opponent all season and highest since hitting .363 vs. Lamar (9/10). Madison Drescher matched her career-high with 15 kills and hit an even .500 with just one error. Kimmy Gardiner, Audrey Alford and Alyssa Enneking all recorded double-doubles.

By the Numbers: OU vs. KU

Marion Hazelwood is a .294 hitter against Kansas with a 2.50 kills and 1.00 blocks per set average. In a five-set match on the road against the Jayhawks in 2014, she posted 17 kills on a .379 attack rate. Earlier that year, Hazelwood notched seven blocks in five sets at home. Madison Ward owns a pair of double-doubles in her career against Kansas. Averaging 2.86 kills per set in six matches, she posted a high of 18 in a 2014 win at home.
