NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma volleyball team dropped a five-set match to Baylor in front of 1,018 at McCasland Field House on Saturday evening. The loss evened the Sooners' record at 14-14 and 5-10 in the Big 12, while the Bears improved to 21-9 and 9-5.
Baylor won the first set 25-21 after answering a quick 3-0 start for Oklahoma with a 7-0 run. The second set was dominated by the Sooners, 25-12. OU hit .565 in the set as sophomore outside hitter Alyssa Enneking (League City, Texas) came off the bench with six kills in the second.
The Sooners took a two sets on one advantage by claiming the third, 25-21 on a .433 attack rate and ended the set with three consecutive kills from Enneking.
In the fourth, Oklahoma led by as many as eight at 14-6 before Baylor staged its comeback to force a fifth set. The Sooners were first to set-point, reaching it twice, before the Bears ultimately won the marathon fourth, 32-30.
The fifth set was won by Baylor, 15-11.
Enneking tied for the match lead with a career-high 20 kills and hit .436 with 14 digs for her seventh double-double of the season. Baylor's Katie Staiger tied Enneking with 20 kills on 70 swings. She added 13 digs and six blocks.
Junior middle blocker Marion Hazelwood (Beach City, Texas) recorded the second double-double of her career in a 12-kill, 11-block effort on a .375 attack rate. Sophomore outside hitter Madison Drescher (Southlake, Texas) was the third Sooner in double figures with 12 kills to go with four blocks.
Camryn Freiberg and Aniah Philo chipped in for the BU attack with 14 and 13 kills, respectively. Freiberg hit .367 and added nine blocks, while Philo picked up 10 digs. Setter Morgan Reed dished out 51 assists and registered 11 digs in the double-double effort. Jana Brusek tallied a match-high 18 digs.
For Oklahoma, sophomore setter Audrey Alford (Norman, Okla.) collected 51 assists and 10 digs for her seventh double-double of the season. Junior defensive specialist Emma Kelly (Houston, Texas) and redshirt-sophomore libero Rachel Manriquez (Edmond, Okla.) each posted 11 digs.
The Sooners head to Iowa State for their season finale on Saturday, November 26.
