NORMAN — The No. 22 Oklahoma soccer team returns home for a Big 12 contest when it hosts Baylor at 7 p.m. CT on Friday at John Crain Field. The match will serve as OU's annual “Kick for a Cure” game for breast cancer awareness, and fans are encouraged to wear pink.
CONFERENCE START
Through four Big 12 matches, OU holds a 3-1-0 record, tying the 2002 season for the second-best start in program history behind a 3-0-1 record in 2005. The Sooners will be looking to start a new overall winning streak this weekend after their eight-match one, the second-best in school history, was snapped at No. 4 West Virginia on Sunday.
THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME
In their last 14 home games at John Crain Field dating back to the start of the 2015 season, the Sooners have posted a 10-1-3 overall record, including a 4-1-1 mark so far this year.
PERFECT 10TH
With a win at Iowa State last weekend, the Sooners reached the 10-win threshold for the third straight season and eighth time in program history. Additionally, it was their third Big 12 win of 2016, matching their conference total for victories from a season ago. The last time OU won at least 10 matches in three-straight years was 2000, '01 and '02.
BREAKING INTO THE RANKINGS
Last week, the Sooners made their season debut in the national polls and remained there after a 3-0 victory at Iowa State and a strong showing at then-No. 4 West Virginia. OU checks in at No. 22 in this week's NSCAA poll and No. 24 in the Top Drawer Soccer listing.
RPI UPDATE
In the second NCAA Women's RPI released this week, the Sooners checked in at No. 6, just behind conference foe West Virginia (No. 2). Five other Big 12 squads find themselves within the top 100 in Kansas (No. 25), Texas Tech (No. 35), Iowa State (No. 46), TCU (No. 61) and Texas (No. 76). Baylor (No. 101) and Oklahoma State (No. 108) check in just outside the top 100.
SHUTOUT STADE
So far this season, redshirt senior Kassidie Stade and the OU defense have tallied five shutouts, including two in Big 12 play. This brings Stade's career total to 16, just two shy of the OU program record of 18.
20 YEARS OF OKLAHOMA SOCCER
This season, the Sooners are celebrating 20 years of the OU soccer program, which was founded in 1996.
THE PRICE IS RIGHT
As a senior, midfielder Shiloh Price is enjoying the statistically best season of her career. The Broken Arrow, Okla., native has career highs in goals (three), game-winning goals (two), assists (five) and points (11).
