NORMAN A program-record six members of the Oklahoma soccer team received All-Big 12 accolades, led by first-team selection Rachel Ressler, the conference announced Monday.

Senior midfielder Jemma Cota, senior forward Liz Keester, junior midfielder Tori Bowman and sophomore defender Paige Welch earned second-team recognition. Freshman midfielder/defender Kristina O'Donnell earned freshman-team honors.

OU's previous high in all-conference selections was three in the 2002 season.

Ressler was a preseason All-Big 12 selection and has started all 80 of her career matches, including OU's 19 in 2016, scoring a career-high four goals and nine points. The Big 12 honor is the second of her career as she received second-team accolades as a junior.

Along with Ressler, Cota was named an All-Big 12 preseason pick. As a senior, she has tallied an assist and started all 19 matches for the Sooners. In 2013, she also earned newcomer recognition from the conference.

Keester leads the Sooners in several offensive categories, including goals (eight), game-winning goals (four), assists (six) and points (22). She scored six goals in a five-match stretch earlier this season and was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 20 for her efforts at Arizona and Grand Canyon.

Bowman has appeared in every match in the midfield for OU this season and has contributed two assists, matching a career best. She was named to the second team in a utility spot.

A key part of the Sooners' backline that has allowed just 18 goals, Welch has started each game and has tallied an assist, while O'Donnell has stepped up as a freshman to appear in all 19 matches.

The Sooners will open postseason play on Wednesday in Kansas City, Mo., when they face No. 5 seed Iowa State at 2 p.m. CT in the Big 12 Championship. Earlier this season, OU defeated the Cyclones by a score of 3-0 in Ames, Iowa. The match will broadcast live on the Big 12 Digital Network, with the winner advancing to semifinal play on Friday.
