S-Audrey Alford, So. Alford ranks third in the Big 12 and 19th in the country with 11.15 assists per set. Against K-State last weekend, she recorded her fourth double-double with 52 assists and 10 digs.

NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma volleyball team is back on the road for its ninth of 10 away matches over a 12-match stretch. The Sooners visit Baylor for a 2 p.m. first serve from the Ferrell Center in Waco on Saturday, October 22.

Oklahoma had a three-match win streak snapped at home by Kansas State in a narrow, four-set loss last Saturday. The Sooners are 12-8 overall and 3-4 in the Big 12. Senior middle blocker Micaela Spann is hitting a league-leading .420 with a 2.51 kills per set average. Sophomore outside hitter Alyssa Enneking has lifted her average to 2.90 kills and 2.20 digs per set, which rank second and third on the team, respectively. Sophomore setter Audrey Alford is third in the Big 12 with 11.15 assists per set and is coming off her fourth double-double of the season in a 52-assist, 10-dig effort against the Wildcats. Junior middle blocker Marion Hazelwood has netted 2.58 kills and 1.24 blocks per set, while contributing to the Sooners .255 attack rate, which ranks third in the league, with a .314 hitting percentage.

Baylor escaped Ames with a five-set upset of Iowa State on Wednesday night to improve to 17-6 overall and 5-2 in Big 12 play. The Bears are holding opponents to a staggeringly low .162 hitting percentage with three players averaging better than one block per set; led by Camryn Freiberg at 1.19. Katie Staiger leads the BU attack with 5.51 kills per set on a .268 attack rate. Earlier this season, she was named the AVCA National Player of the Week on September 27. No other Bear attacker is above the 2.00 per set threshold. Morgan Reed has taken over the setting duties this season and is averaging 9.83 assists and 2.07 digs per set.

All-Time vs. Baylor

The Sooners own the all-time series against the Bears, 39-15. Oklahoma has won 13 of the last 14 matches dating back to 2008, with Baylor's lone win during that stretch coming in 2011 in Norman. The Bears won the first two matches of the series in 1976 and 1977, but the Sooners then rattled off the series' longest winning streak of eight matches from 1979-89.

Last Time They Met

Oklahoma registered its fifth sweep of the season with a 25-19, 25-20, 25-23 win over Baylor in Waco on November 15 of last year. The win marked the first road, Big 12 win for the Sooners on the season. Kierra Holst led the Sooner with 14 kills on a season-high .471 attack rate. As a team, OU hit a season-best .374 as Spann hit a team-high .500 with nine kills. Baylor's Andie Malloy led all players with 20 kills on a .436 hitting percentage.

Sophomores Stepping Up

Sophomore outside hitters Madison Drescher and Alyssa Enneking have been pressed into larger roles in the Sooner rotation over recent weeks. With injuries to three starters, the sophomore combo has slid into the starting lineup together rather than sharing a spot. Drescher was been forced to play out of position at middle blocker for a time and immediately made her presence known. She is hitting a team-best .299 over the last four matches with 2.00 kills and 0.95 blocks per set. Meanwhile, Enneking is averaging 3.65 kills and 3.24 digs per set as she remains in the game to pass and play the back row. She posted two double-doubles at West Virginia with 12 kills and 11 digs in the opener and followed with 16 kills and a career-high 28 digs in the finale.

By the Numbers: OU vs. BU

Outside hitter Kimmy Gardiner and middle blocker Micaela Spann have each hit over .300 in their career against Baylor. In four matches, Gardiner is a .329 hitter with a 2.21 kills and 1.79 digs per set average. She notched 17 kills on .615 hitting in a four-set Sooner win at home in 2014. Though she has not posted kill numbers in double digits, Spann is a .321 hitter and averaged 1.75 kills and 1.15 blocks per set vs. Baylor. Last season, she tallied nine blocks and eight kills on a .583 attack rate in a four-set win in Norman.

Coming Off a Day Off

Under the current structure of the Big 12, since TCU and West Virginia joined the league for the 2012 season, Oklahoma has played 16 matches following a bye in the conference schedule. In those matches, the Sooners are 10-6, including a perfect 4-0 mark in 2014. OU has played Texas after a break in the Big 12 slate three times; all home losses in 2012, 2013 and 2016.
