FORT WORTH, Texas – Facing a season-high 14-point deficit midway through the third quarter, No. 17 Oklahoma battled back with a second-half surge to earn a 78-65 victory over TCU on the road at Schollmaier Arena.

Five Sooners (11-3, 2-1 Big 12) scored in double figures as Oklahoma closed the game on a 26-4 run, holding TCU (10-4, 1-2 Big 12) to just five points over the final 6:35 to seal the win. Kaylon Williams notched her sixth double-double of the season, posting 18 points and 10 rebounds.

We were less than stellar for three quarters, and then in the fourth quarter we played hard, we played together, we were connected, and I think you saw a will -- a refuse to lose mentality,” head coach Sherri Coale said.

“That's probably more important to build on that than it would be a hot shooting night or something that is a little less difficult to get to. That will to win is pretty strong, and when you know you have that, regardless of the situation, you've got something pretty special. They figured it out, and I give them all the credit. It had zero to do with what I said at a timeout break. It was them together deciding to play for each other and refusing to lose."

Down 60-52, OU reeled off an 18-1 run during the fourth quarter to complete the comeback. Williams tied the game at 61-61 with a hook shot in the lane.

The Sooners took advantage of a TCU turnover as T'ona Edwards dropped in a lay-up in transition to give OU its first lead of the game with 2:37 left. Edwards finished the game with 10 points, a career-high nine assists and six rebounds in 28 minutes. Peyton Little, who finished with 15 points, completed a 3-point play to give OU a five-point advantage with 2:15 left.

McKenna Treece provided a spark for the Sooners down the stretch, scoring all of her seven points in the fourth quarter and knocking down a trey from the baseline to extend OU's lead to 69-61 with 1:38 to go. The Horned Frogs were 8 for 24 (.333) from the field in the second half as the Sooners outscored TCU, 46-27, in the final 20 minutes of the game.

OU's defense played a critical role in the rally, holding TCU to just one made field goal in its final 10 attempts. The Sooners also forced 12 second-half turnovers and finished with a season-high 15 steals.

Williams finished in double figures for the 14th straight game and matched her double-double total from last season (finished with six during the 2014-15 season). Edwards, who played a career-high 28 minutes, recorded four steals while Little added in a team-high five swipes.

Maddie Manning was 7 of 8 from the free throw line to add in 11 points. Derica Wyatt finished in double figures for the third time in the last five games, chipping in 10 points. The junior also picked up a career-high seven rebounds and logged three steals.

OU trailed by six at halftime after the Horned Frogs shot .457 from the floor and .545 from 3-point range.  TCU opened the third quarter with an 8-0 run that spanned 1:34, but the Sooners slowly worked their way back into the game in part to holding the Horned Frogs to just 2 for 5 from behind the arc.

The Sooners outshoot the Horned Frogs, .412 to .407, while TCU finished .500 from behind the arc to OU's .238 3-point shooting percentage. OU won the battle on the boards, 44-36, outrebounding TCU by 27-13 margin in the second half. The Sooners are 10-0 this when outrebounding its opponent.

Zahna Medley led the Horned Frogs with 19 points on 5 of 14 shooting. Toree Thompson added in 14 points off the bench, while Jada Butts finished with 11 points and a team-high nine rebounds.

The Sooners return home to take on Kansas State Sunday at 1 p.m. CT at Lloyd Noble Center. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Oklahoma and Fox Sports Southwest +. Tickets are available here.
